Riddle me this
“Why is the sky blue?”
“How does a television work?”
“Why do people have belly buttons?”
“Why is a tomato a vegetable?”
When I was growing up, I had one younger brother who loved to ask me questions. He would keep me up into the wee hours of the morning asking me impossible question after impossible question, which I would do my best to answer. Sometimes I would know the answer, but telling it to him would only lead to even more in depth questions. Finally, needing to sleep so that I would at least be half awake for school, I would simply tell him that I did not know and to go to bed. This of course, would only spur him to ask another question.
If only my childhood had been a few decades later.
Then my brother could have just typed his questions into the Yahoo! answers site and I might have gotten enough sleep to do better in school. The various question and answer forums available on the internet nowadays were built with people like my ever curious brother in mind. Question and Answer Sites like Yahoo answers, Answers.Com, WikiAnswers, and others lets you post queries and let others provide the answers.
If your query is really out there, you might have to wait for others to post an answer, but it is something that has been asked before, you will probably find a discussion thread where people have posted their answers. For example if you typed in the oft asked “why is the sky blue?” you will be sent to a page where several people with scientific backgrounds offer up some wordy explanations on how the light from the sun reacts with the atmosphere . Also, if you happen to have an answer to someone else’s question, or have something to add to an answer, you are allowed to post it, making for many interesting discussion threads.
If you are looking for inspiration, Q and A sites offer up ample opportunity for you to find your muse. If question pops up on a project you are currently working on, you can log on to one of these sites to see if they provide a good answer. You can also find inspiration among the threaded discussions, finding enlightenment among the answers and even working up some good creative fervor by offering up your own two cents on a subject you are knowledgeable about. Next time you are looking for some creative inspiration, or just have a question and your older brother is asleep: try looking on one of these question and answer sites.
