How reading books can help you find your inspiration
"THE MAN WHO DOESN'T READ HAS NO ADVANTAGE OVER THE MAN WHO CAN'T READ.”
Reading a book from your favorite story teller, or about a subject that interests you is a great way to become creatively inspired. As writer, reading the works of others can only help make your own writing stronger. Allowing yourself to escape to another world and to live vicariously can inspire you.
Reading for Inspiration
One of the best ways to find your muse is to gain inspiration from reading a book. Books are the ultimate form of interactive entertainment. They engage your imagination in a way that more modern forms of entertainment fail to, forging paths of creativity within your mind as your turn the written words into images, actions and ruminations. Whether it is a book on your favorite subject or a novel that takes place long ago and far away, a good read is usually just what the doctor ordered for creative inspiration.
While movies and video games can help you kill some time and maybe provide you a bit of escapism, books area much better way to build up some creative energy. Whether it is by Shakespeare, Tolkien, or Sagan; a book can spur the imagination and transport you into a different world and even a different existence. How many times have you watched a movie only to hear someone exclaim that the book was so much better? That is because a book allows for a more complete story, a bigger world limited only by the author’s and the reader’s own imaginations.
