How recording your thoughts and feelings can help inspire you to find your muse
Whether it is good times or bad, keeping track of your different feelings is a good way to tap into them later for creative reasons. Without various ups and downs, this world would be a boring place and by tapping into them you can end up making your creative work more inspired and inspiring.
Ever have one of those days when everything seems to go right for you? A day in which you feel like taking to the streets to perform a song and dance number and just knowing everyone around will fall in step as you boogie your way down the boulevard as if you are in some Disney produced musical?
The sun is shining, the cute cartoon birds are chirping, you feel like you are on top of the world. Perhaps you met someone new, or maybe got a promotion, or it could because all of the various bodily chemicals just happen to be meshing well that day. In times like these, it is good to take a moment and record your thoughts and feeling for posterity. Later on, when you are looking for a bit of inspiration, these recorded thoughts might help stir the creative thinking pot allowing the meaty bits of those happy times float to the surface.
Or, maybe you are having one of those days in which gloom and doom are following your around as if there is a permanent storm cloud over you, barring the sunshine from your life. Maybe you stepped in dog poop, got yelled at by your boss, or got into an argument with your significant other; whatever the reason, the day is going poorly and all you feel like doing is hiding in the hole somewhere and wishing the whole world would just go away and leave you alone. These also, are times where it might be a good idea to put your thoughts on record. Turn your dark thoughts into words and write how you feel and why you feel that way. These recorded thoughts of dark times can also serve as creative inspiration for you. You might be able to turn your dark thoughts into another form of art such as a poem, a musical piece or a painting, or you can use it for inspiration later one when you feel the need to put yourself in a darker mood in order to achieve your creative goal.
Good times, or bad, whenever you are feeling different about yourself, it is a good idea to take the time to record your thoughts and feelings so that you might be able to gain insight and inspiration from them later on down the road. These emotional ups and downs of life, can serve as great creative signposts, helping to spur you onto to your next great artistic endeavor. What would the world be like if it were not for these highs and lows? Plays would be boring telling of mundane events, Rock and roll with all of its angst would cease to exist. It would be a boring place indeed. Use your good and bad day recordings to help get you into a particular creative mindset and help make the world a more interesting place.
