How examining your own thoughts and beliefs can help you find your muse
WHAT LIES BEHIND US AND WHAT LIES BEFORE US ARE TINY MATTERS COMPARED TO WHAT LIES WITHIN US.
Knowing where you stand is the first step to creative awareness. Next time you are looking for your muse, take the time to write out your beliefs and feelings, and the reasons why you believe or feel the way you do. This will give you a foundation on which to build upon and help give your creative ideas a resonance and conviction.
Taking a stand
Where do you stand on…
- Capital punishment
- A women’s right to choose
- Prayer in schools
- Legalizing Medical Marijuana
- Gay Marriage
- The war on terror
Do you believe in…
- The Devil?
- The Easter Bunny?
No, this is not one of those hokey quick answer surveys that you see floating around many social network sites. Do not worry; I do not really want to know your stance on religion or politics. I just wanted to spur your creative thinking a little bit by asking some random questions about where you stand and what you believe in.
“To thy own self be true…”
Knowing where you stand and what your beliefs are is the first step to gaining creative awareness. If you know exactly what your beliefs, feeling and thoughts are about a particular subject, it is easier to find the inspiration and passion to pursue that subject from your own particular viewpoint and to come up with creative ways in which to let your own particular world view shine.
Next time you are looking to be creatively inspired take the time to write out your own particular beliefs and feelings about the world. Ask yourself why do you believe this way or that? Was it how you were raised, or how you came to see the world as you got older? Write down the things you love as well as the things you hate and whatever other feeling that come in between. Once you get yourself centered, and are pretty sure about where you stand then pursue other disciplines with these beliefs and feelings at the forefront of your creative pursuit.
