How having fun can lead to creative inspiration
"PEOPLE RARELY SUCCEED UNLESS THEY HAVE FUN IN WHAT THEY ARE DOING. "
Adding a bit of fun to your life can help you leap over any creative hurdles that are in your way and allow you to find your muse by simply enjoying what you are doing. If you find yourself stuck on your writing, try to turn it around and make it fun and watch as your creative beast comes out.
Let the good times in
Who doesn’t like to have fun? Dogs know better than us about the need to be goofy. Even the oldest dog around will take some time out from its busy nap schedule to romp around like a young pup. We too, need to let loose like this and quit being so serious. Having fun and doing things that you enjoy is a great way to find yourself. Just plain enjoying yourself can help you unlock your creative cabinet so that you may unleash your thoughts and works unto the world at large.
If you enjoy what you are doing, than it is hard to call it work. Even if the job you have is not what you had in mind when you first went to college does not mean that you cannot make the most of it. Find things about it that you enjoy and do not let yourself get stressed out over little things that come up. Lighten up and look forward to whatever pleasures that come your way, whether it is clever banter with a coworker or perhaps a favorite park bench where you like to eat lunch and people watch. While looking on the bright side might sound cliché, having a positive attitude towards life will help eliminate stress allowing you to live a longer, happier and healthier life.
How having fun can help you improve as a writer
Writers who take pleasure in the act of writing are generally much better writers than writers who approach their work as something they have to suffer through. Allowing yourself to revel in the creative process of writing and to truly enjoy it, will help you overcome any creative obstacles that are currently standing in your way.
Letting the silly come out is great way for writers to unlock their creativity and perhaps even come up with stuff they can expand on. When you are writing, do not be afraid to go off another silly tangent no matter how goofy it seems. Perhaps your main character suddenly turns into something else or even explodes. Let your subconscious out and find yourself breaking through whatever stumbling blocks which were in your way before. Even if you do not end up using your silly ideas, they might lead you down a new creative path that had previously neglected to explore.
Another way to make writing more fun and overcome any obstacles of creativity is to transform what you are writing into a form that you most enjoy working on. Perhaps you are more of a poet than a white paper writer. Why not first try writing that business proposal as a sonnet? It might not be something you want to give your boss, but it may help you figure out where you want to with your report by allowing you to circumnavigate the creative blockade that you have set up for yourself.
