How being different can lead you to your muse
"WHEN ALL THINK ALIKE, THEN NO ONE IS THINKING"
When it comes to finding your muse, being different helps. List the things that make you different, and tap into your creative originality to come with things that are truly one of a kind.
Make a Difference
I hate it when I find a new shortcut to work only to have several hundred other motorists find it too. Soon my early jump off the expressway becomes a snarled mess as everyone else who is running late for work decides to take it too. Then, I have to find a new shortcut that no one else is trying to take. Finding your muse is a lot like maneuvering through these types of traffic jams. In order to truly find your way, you need to be able to think differently from everyone else, and take the one shortcut that no one else has thought of.
Having originality is important when it comes to creativity. Dressing in the same suit, getting the same haircut, and holding the same large paper cup of overpriced coffee product as everyone else might allow you to fit in at the office, but allowing yourself to be this type of clone also makes you and the work that you do replaceable. Allowing your personality to come out in your work showing off your unique individuality, will give whatever you do a twist that will make all the difference..
Help yourself to find the muse within by making a list of things that make you different from everyone else around you. What are your little “quirks”? Do you only sing Queen Songs in the shower, or have the insatiable need to suck your big toe? What inspires you? What makes you tear up? Use these little differences to help inspire your creative output, making it truly your own.
